Elegant winter wedding inspiration was everywhere at Steven and Mary’s wedding. Their Hotel Peter and Paul ceremony and reception featured great music, stunning florals, and tasteful decor to create an immersive experience for their guests.

Hotel Peter and Paul

Mary and Steven traveled all the way from Washington DC to have their wedding at Hotel Peter and Paul. This historic church-turned-boutique hotel is easily one of the most beautiful wedding venues in New Orleans. I’ve photographed an engagement session there as well as weddings. Every room is decorated to perfection. When you’re looking for winter wedding inspiration, these are exactly the kind of unique interiors you hope to find.

One of the great parts of a Hotel Peter and Paul wedding is the ability to get ready in one of the stunning hotel rooms. Mary got ready in a bi-level suite, which made photos from that part of the day that much more amazing. So much natural light streamed in between the gingham curtains to light the airy room and its elegant details. Since the suite was bi-level, I was able to get a great perspective on Mary’s family helping her with her veil. I loved how the spacious suite gave Mary room to relax into her day and me the ability to get creative with well-lit photos.

Of course, most wedding guests only see the ceremony and reception space at Hotel Peter and Paul. This is where the winter wedding inspiration really came into play for Steven and Mary’s wedding. One of my favorite moments of the day occurred after the first look and family portraits. Steven and Mary snuck into the hall, a former church sanctuary, to see the ceremony setup. We were the only people present while the musicians played, and it was beautifully overwhelming. I hadn’t originally planned on documenting their reaction, but I’m glad I was able to catch this moving moment. With the music filling the church, it truly felt like a sacred moment.

Romantic Winter Wedding Inspiration

From start to finish, Steven and Mary’s wedding was full of creative but classic winter wedding inspiration. In New Orleans, Mary was still able to wear a sleeveless gown pretty comfortably. Her accessories added seasonal elegance, especially her drop pearl earrings.

One of my favorite pieces of winter wedding inspiration from this wedding came in the form of the florals. Cry Baby Floral put together the most incredible bouquets and boutonnieres for Steven, Mary, and their wedding parties. All of the flowers were in shades of dusky pink and deep red. The florist even incorporated dark blue berries and vines for interesting shape and movement. The long pink linen ribbon coordinated so well with the earthy tones of the roses.

With its towering ceilings and elaborate stained glass windows, Hotel Peter and Paul doesn’t need over-the-top decor to make a wedding feel special. Steven and Mary’s reception featured more winter wedding inspiration in the form of small floral arrangements on tables and dark greenery draped over pillars. Pillar candles created an intimate atmosphere at the tables.

Steven and Mary’s New Orleans Wedding

Mary and Steven are incredibly kind and intentional people. I could see how they drew people to them, and their families were joys to be around as well. On their wedding day, Mary and Steven had a relaxed timeline. This allowed us plenty of time for creative photos while Mary and Steven focused on connecting with each other and their people.

All of the winter wedding inspiration at their ceremony and reception added a sense of elegance and romance to the night. Steven and Mary hired a jazz band to play the reception, and it fit the ambiance perfectly. Guests enjoyed the delicious food from Bacchanal and enjoyed each other’s company late into the evening.
